Television presenter Alex Jones has said trying to conceive is like being on a ‘rollercoaster’ as she delves into the world of maternity in a new series on making babies.

The BBC One Show presenter joins Kings Fertility Clinic as she trains to be a fertility assistant in Alex Jones: Making babies on W Channel.

The mother of three was speaking at the press preview of the show which will follow the lives of some of the clinic’s patients and staff as they go about their daily life helping and having children.

She said: “One in seven couples struggle with fertility, which is a hell of a lot of people not to be represented or feel like they’re not seen.

“I thought this was an amazing opportunity for people who might be in the middle of IVF or people who might be going into it.”

She admitted that had she and her husband, Charlie had to go through IVF they would be at each other’s throats.

She said: “If we went through IVF, Charlie and I would be at each other’s throats. And you know, we are pretty rock solid. But it does stuff to you, doesn’t it?”

Alex, 45, said she did worry about having fertility issues as her mother went through the menopause at just 43.

In 2016, she said safer sex was important but so is educating young women on fertility and freezing their eggs.
